Mike's Pacific Crest Trail

Mike Podonyi

Just a guy hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 2015

No more working.... grooooovy

Yesterday was my last day of work.
Now just 1 and a half week left before my big trip starts.
I killed almost all my items on my hiking todo list.
But now at first 1 week la dolce farniente in Malta with my girlfriend.

Gear P*rn: The Bag

There is really no need to go completely ultralight in Europe.

The next bar/hostel/campground is just a day hike away.

No need to carry around a lot of food and water.

Anyway, for the PCT i switched a lot of my gear and bought a lighter alternative.

I bought a ULA Catalyst bag and i love it.

California Drought might be worse than expected

Just 30 days left before my hike starts and it seems like California is dry as a bone.

Well, there will be water caches maintained by volunteers but there will be also many more hikers this year.

I hope i don't have to go Bear Grylls style and preserve my pee in a Rattlesnake skin just to survive the next 20 miles.

Seam Sealing My Tarptent Contrail

Pitched the Tent in the flat and sealed the seams with Silicone.

Just don't forget to open the Windows or you will need some aspirin afterwards.

Is this good or bad?

Just in case you think i will be lonely. There will be at least 1500 other backpackers with me.

It will be almost as packed as on the Camino De Santiago.

The question is: "Is this good or bad?"

ADZPCTKO 2015

I just registered myself for the Annual Day Zero Pacific Crest Trail Kick Off 2015 as a through hiker.

Its basically a big start party before you set off for the big hike.

You get all the infos you need, making connections and stuff yourself with calories.

Can't wait.

Three permits to rule them all

I have all required licences together. Apart from the B2 US-Visa of course.
